1. Introduction

TagMyCar is committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of its customers and users. TagMyCar provides a smart QR-based vehicle contact service intended to enable vehicle owners to be contacted in parking-related situations without publicly displaying their personal mobile number.

This Privacy Policy explains what information TagMyCar may collect, how such information may be used, stored, disclosed and protected, and the choices available to users.

By accessing the TagMyCar website, purchasing or activating a TagMyCar QR Code, registering an account, or otherwise using the TagMyCar platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

2. Who we are

"TagMyCar", "we", "us" and "our" refer to the TagMyCar business operating through tagmycar.in, having its business location at Yamunanagar, Haryana – 135001.

3. Information we collect

Depending upon how you use TagMyCar, we may collect the following categories of information:

A. Information provided by the customer

This may include:

  • Name;
  • Email address;
  • Mobile/phone number;
  • Vehicle name, nickname or other vehicle-related information entered by you;
  • Shipping and delivery address;
  • Account credentials and related account information;
  • Information voluntarily provided while contacting customer support; and
  • Payment-related transaction information received through our payment service provider.

TagMyCar does not ordinarily store your complete debit card, credit card or banking credentials. Payment transactions are processed through third-party payment gateways and are subject to their respective policies.

B. Automatically collected information

We may collect certain technical and usage information, including:

  • QR Code scan date and time;
  • Approximate location associated with a QR Code scan, where technically available;
  • Device type;
  • Browser and operating-system information;
  • IP address or similar technical information where required for security or analytics;
  • Website usage information;
  • Cookies and similar technologies; and
  • Error, diagnostic and security information.

C. Information provided by QR code scanners

A person scanning a TagMyCar QR Code may be able to contact the Tag Owner through the available TagMyCar communication functionality.

The scanner may not be required to create an account merely to initiate a parking-related communication.

Messages or communication initiated through the platform may be processed and stored to facilitate delivery and operation of the service.

4. How we use information

TagMyCar may use collected information for purposes including:

  • Creating and managing customer accounts;
  • Activating and managing QR Codes;
  • Associating QR Codes with registered vehicles;
  • Routing communications between scanners and Tag Owners;
  • Protecting the Tag Owner's personal phone number from public display;
  • Sending scan notifications and service alerts;
  • Processing orders and payments;
  • Delivering physical QR stickers;
  • Providing customer support;
  • Detecting fraud, abuse, unauthorised access and security threats;
  • Maintaining, troubleshooting and improving the platform;
  • Analysing usage and service performance;
  • Complying with applicable laws, regulations, legal notices and governmental requirements; and
  • Protecting the rights, property and security of TagMyCar, its users and third parties.

5. Protection of your phone number

One of the principal purposes of TagMyCar is to prevent the public display of the Tag Owner's personal phone number through the QR Code.

Subject to applicable law and technical requirements, your phone number is not intentionally displayed to a person merely because that person scans your QR Code.

Your phone number may be processed by TagMyCar for the purpose of facilitating communication through the platform.

TagMyCar does not sell or rent your phone number to third parties for their independent marketing purposes.

6. Sharing of information

TagMyCar does not sell personal information as a commercial product.

Information may, however, be disclosed or made accessible where reasonably necessary:

  • To payment processors for processing transactions;
  • To courier and logistics partners for delivery;
  • To hosting, cloud-storage, analytics and infrastructure providers;
  • To technical and security service providers;
  • To professional advisers where reasonably required;
  • To comply with a court order, governmental direction, lawful request or applicable law;
  • To investigate fraud, abuse, cyberattacks or other unlawful activity; or
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring, sale of assets or transfer of the business or service.

Third-party service providers may process information according to their own applicable terms and privacy policies.

7. Data security

TagMyCar uses reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, which may include encrypted transmission, access controls, secure hosting practices and other commercially reasonable security measures.

However, no website, server, database, application, internet transmission or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Accordingly, TagMyCar does not guarantee that information will never be accessed, altered, disclosed, lost or compromised as a result of circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including sophisticated cyberattacks, hacking, malware, infrastructure failures or third-party security incidents.

8. Data retention

TagMyCar may retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • Provide the services;
  • Maintain customer accounts;
  • Resolve disputes;
  • Maintain business and transaction records;
  • Prevent fraud and abuse;
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations; or
  • Protect legitimate business interests.

As stated in our current service model, scan logs and message history may be retained for up to 12 months, subject to operational and legal requirements.

Where account deletion is requested, personal information may be deleted or anonymised within a reasonable period, except information that TagMyCar is required or permitted to retain under applicable law.

9. Your rights and controls

Subject to applicable law and reasonable verification requirements, you may request:

  • Access to personal information held by TagMyCar;
  • Correction of inaccurate information;
  • Deletion of information where legally permissible;
  • Deactivation or pausing of your QR Code;
  • Withdrawal from non-essential communications; and
  • Information regarding the processing of your personal data.

10. Cookies

TagMyCar may use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Maintain login sessions;
  • Improve website functionality;
  • Analyse traffic and usage;

11. Children

TagMyCar is intended for persons aged 18 years or above.

TagMyCar does not knowingly seek to collect personal information from persons below the age of 18. If we become aware that information has been collected from a minor without appropriate consent, we may take reasonable steps to delete such information.

12. Third-party services

TagMyCar may use third-party payment gateways, hosting providers, courier services, analytics providers, communication providers and other infrastructure or service providers.

TagMyCar is not responsible for the independent privacy practices of third-party providers. Users should review the applicable policies of such providers where relevant.

13. Changes to this privacy policy

TagMyCar reserves the right to modify or update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

The updated version shall be published on tagmycar.in with the revised effective date. Where reasonably appropriate, significant changes may also be communicated through email, website notification or other available means.

Continued use of TagMyCar after an updated policy becomes effective shall constitute acknowledgement of the updated policy, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
